Today’s Topic: NCDA&CS helps N.C. businesses keep exports moving
Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”
International purchases of North Carolina agricultural products help boost farm income and support jobs. But exporting many of these products wouldn’t be possible without documents known as phytosanitary certificates.
These certificates ensure that a product meets the importing country’s entry requirements. All countries have entry requirements to minimize the spread of plant pests while promoting trade.
Troxler says that by helping businesses research and obtain the necessary certifications, the department is helping grow business export opportunities with lumber, cotton, tobacco, nursery plants, soybeans, corn and other products.
